Early Inspirations
From a young age, Dr. Tova Shimunova was drawn to the medical field, with her path becoming clearer during her high school years. Her dedication to volunteering at a local Assisted Living Home sparked her interest in geriatric care. This experience led her to explore Speech Pathology and Audiology, where she gained valuable insights through shadowing in private practices. It was in Audiology that she found her true passion.
Academic Achievements
Dr. Shimunova's academic journey was marked by remarkable achievements. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in just three years at St. John’s University in Queens, NY. Her quest for knowledge peaked in 2021 when she earned a Doctor of Audiology degree from the prestigious Long Island Au.D Consortium at Hofstra University, a collaboration involving Adelphi and St. John’s Universities. Her education included diverse experiences in private practice, Ear Nose and Throat settings, and the Veterans Administration, culminating in a residency at a private practice in Rockville Centre.
Research and Contributions
During her graduate studies, Dr. Shimunova actively engaged in research, particularly focusing on tinnitus. Her work gained recognition in notable publications like the American Journal of Audiology. She developed a broad range of skills, including conducting diagnostic hearing tests, hearing aid evaluations, cerumen removal, and the precise fitting and adjustment of hearing aids.

As a licensed audiologist and hearing aid dispenser in New York, Dr. Shimunova is ASHA certified.
